Well, here's what I got so far. The organ is a C2, and built right around 1950. The Leslie is a model 45, built around 1958. The organ is missing the bassfoot pedals, and is pretty beat up.
Timing Guy Gerber Rapidshare Search. Some of the keys are stuck, and all are very discolored. Just checking up on Ebay real quick, a C2 can be hand for about $800.00, and that's one that is in working order, with bass pedals. Since I personally would never use them anyway, if decide to keep it, I guess I'll live with that.
Not sure how much I want to invest in restoring the organ, or if it's really even economically feasible. The Leslie seems to be in a better shape, and speaking as a guitarist, has some potential. I've seen them listed from around $400 and up to $900 for ones that are in excellent shape. Anyway, here are some pics for y'all to look. Okay here's a couple important things: a) do not under any circumstances plug the leslie into the connection box in the right rear of the organ. It's a 147, and has a different wiring scheme than what that hammond is set up for.
B) where is the leslie switch? C) is there an ancilliary connection box down below? D) the leslie's been upgraded somewhat. It has a 2 speed motor stack on top, but a single speed on the bottom. It also seems to have a 147 amp instead of a 47. Could you take photos of the undercarriage of the amplifier?
E) what do you mean by 'stuck' keys? Could you take photos of those and of the silver box hanging down from the top back panel of the instrument? F) this thing needs a _lot_ of work. However, you got a good deal on it. G) do you have any idea why it was there? The wiring in the back of the organ looks pretty clean (for instance the power wires don't look like they have cracked or been chewed by rats.
However, do NOT power the organ up. The pic shows that the metal cover over the power terminals has been knocked sideways. That may be because you are just missing a nut and the cover is falling partially off, OR it may mean that the terminal strip itself is cracked or broken.
Gotta fix that first. It is OK to poke around inside the organ, but only if it is unplugged. Just don't go touching any capacitor terminals for a couple of hours after the last time you had power applied. The leslie has had a slow motor added to the horn but not the rotor, looks like the amp has been switched to a 2 speed version also although I can't see a model number.
The leslie looks in pretty darn good shape. So does the organ cabinet. It has some scars, but no major chunks knocked out of it that I can see. I don't see a leslie kit anywhere in the organ - it may be set up for the original Hammond tone cabinet. Is there a leslie switch hooked up somewhere that we can't see from the pics?
